Paradoxical heart rate response after atropine sulfate administration in total atrioventricular block complicating acute myocardial infarction: A case report

چکیده
Acute myocardial infarction is sometimes complicated by atrioventricular block. Advanced cardiac life support guideline for the treatment of block suggests early use atropine. Atropine works as a parasympatholytic drug that enhances SA node automaticity and AV conduction. We report case male patient with inferior total who showed marked reduction in heart rate after first second atropine administration, paradoxical worsening has been associated some adverse consequences, including proarrhythmic effect, high-grade block, ischemic situation. In this caused acute infarction, immediate revascularization can be only required management. Awareness potential reaction will help clinician make risk/benefit ratio consideration regarding certain patients.

Heart block complicating acute inferior wall myocardial infarction.
Heart block was noted in 60 (35 complete and 25 second-degree) of 410 patients with acute inferior wall myocardial infarction. This group with heart block was compared to a control group of 30 patients with acute inferior wall infarction without heart block. The incidences of prior myocardial infarction and hypertension, in addition to the highest level of serum creatine phosphokinase and a max...

INTRODUCTION Double heart rupture is a rare complication of acute myocardial infarction with high mortality. CASE REPORT We presented a 67-year-old female patient with symptoms and signs of myocardial infarction, diagnosed with echocardiography, rupture of the septum, the presence of a thrombus and a small pericardial effusion. Soon after admission the patient died. Autopsy revealed tamponade...

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory disease that predominantly affects the gastrointestinal (GI) tract but can involve extraintestinal organs including musculoskeletal system and skin. The most frequent cardiac manifestations of UC are pericarditis and myocarditis. Patients display an increased risk for venous thromboembolic complications and mesenteric ischemia, but the associati...

RESULTS During the 1990s, the incidence of CAVB was 3.7% compared with 5.3% in the 1980s, p 5 0.0007. In the 1990s, mortality of patients with CAVB was significantly higher than in those without CAVB at 7 days (odds ratio [OR] 5 4.05 95% CI [confidence interval] 2.34 to 6.82, 30 days OR 5 3.98 [95% CI 2.44 to 6.43] and one-year hazard ratio [HR] 5 2.36, [95% CI 1.68 to 3.30]) and similar in thr...
